Dr Saamdu Chetri was born in rural Bhutan. He holds a PhD and a Masters Degree in Commerce and was in 2008 he was appointed to government office by the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Bhutan.
He was responsible for developing the Gross National Happiness (GNH) Centre in Dewaling, Bumthang, Bhutan in 2011, and now serves as its Executive Director.
Saamdu’s work involves him travelling to many countries around the world where he delivers keynote speeches and talks about the subject of Gross National Happiness. In March 2017 he made a round the world trip speaking at different events and attended the first World Happiness Summit in Miami.
